Public Affairs Coordinator

SUMMARY

The Public Affairs Coordinator facilitates the efficient operation of the Public Affairs department by performing a wide range of administrative support activities and tasks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  The Public Affairs Coordinator will perform the following functions. Other duties may be assigned as appropriate.

·        Schedules meetings with legislators, stakeholders, members and Public Affairs staff

·        Provides administrative assistance in support of political action committee including reporting to statewide agencies

·        Provides administrative support for marketing campaigns with Communications team

·        Prepares for in-person policy meetings at the office

·        Updates membership database with Public Affairs related content including member engagements, policy council membership

·        Provides administrative support to local chamber network staff including developing communications through an email marketing system

·        Helps coordinate policy events such as Small Business Day at the Capitol, Legislative Preview, and receptions at the Chamber building

·        Assist at Chamber functions, including Chamber Day, Annual Meeting, and other events as needed

·        Serve as front-of-the-house administrator on a rotational basis. This includes mail service, supervising in-house events, accepting deliveries, assisting visitors, and more.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

At least four years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  HS Diploma or GED is required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Employee must have a valid driver’s license.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

·        TECHNOLOGY SKILLS - Proficient in most recent Microsoft Word operating system including Excel, PowerPoint, Word (mail merge).

·        JUDGEMENT SKILLS – Capacity to arrive at appropriate conclusions/decisions in critical situations and dilemmas

·        CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS – Ability to address customer needs and ensure they have a good experience by utilizing active listening, empathy, problem-solving and communication skills.

SALARY

  Salary is commensurate with responsibilities.
